Synopsis

This film portrays the story of the Czech singer Marta Kubišová, who became a symbol of freedom for all generations in Czechoslovakia. Because of her deep involvement in the Prague Spring, she went from being the most popular singer to being banned, suffering a sudden removal from the public scene by the authorities imposed from Moscow. She fought for the possibility of the new generation being able to live in a free country she could be proud of.

  • Olga Sommerová
  • Born in Prague in 1949, Olga Sommerová studied documentary filmmaking at the Czech National Film Academy (FAMU). Her works focus on social issues, human relationships, feminism, and the political history of the Czech Republic. From 1991 to 2002, she taught at FAMU and led the documentary department from 1994. She has made nearly 100 films and has won 35 awards at domestic and international film festivals.
