Synopsis

In 2014, a group of young boys enter a Chinese talent TV show called [Super Boy], hoping to get famous. Fan Li-xin focuses on those boys for several months, trying to understand them and to show the public how the young boys coped with their challenging lives. Talent shows create a new type of entertainer, but can they still keep their true selves? Can they adjust themselves and balance the ups and downs? What have the ten years of Chinese talent shows given us? What is urging us to grow up?

  • Fan Lixin is a Chinese documentary filmmaker who was the first from China to win the Emmy Award for Best Documentary. He has also won the Trailblazer Award at MIPDOC 2010 and Best Director at the same year’s One World Media Festival. He has served as a juror at numerous international documentary festivals, including the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), gaining wide recognition.
