Synopsis

Jonas, a young man on the run, arrives in Berlin just in time to save Ruth’s life. Evicted from her apartment, Ruth, an ageing Jewish cabaret singer, saw no other way out than suicide. As Ruth recovers, she and Jonas begin to form a deep bond. As Jonas discovers Ruth’s past and takes part in her present, his attentions and the passionate Yiddish songs of her youth help her find the way back to life.

  • 사회학, 정치학, 독어독문학을 공부하고, 1986년부터 조감독으로 일하기 시작했다. 1990년 첫 번째 영화 <쫓기는 길>로 감독 데뷔를 했고, 2001년에 두 번째 장편영화 <공원에서의 밤>를 만들었다. 2011년에 TV 시리즈 [다니 로빈스키]로 독일 코미디 상을 수상했으며, 2013년 작품 <장관>은 독일 영화상 롤라의 최우수 영화 후보작으로 선정되기도 했다.
