Synopsis
World-renowned composer & conductor Tan Dun has had the honor of composing film music for three films by critically acclaimed directors: Ang Lee’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Zhang Yimou’s Hero, and Feng Xiaogang’s The Banquet. Combining the ancient traditions of Chinese martial arts philosophy and visual arts, these films were all met with worldwide acclaim. Performed by the acclaimed Tonus Trio, The Martial Arts Trilogy combines sonatas and multimedia elements to rediscover the spirit of Chinese martial arts. The work consists of: Crouching Tiger Sonata, Hero Sonata, The Banquet Sonata, and The Triple Resurrection Trio.

- Tan Dun, a world-renowned musician and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, has left a remarkable mark on the music world with his original works that transcend the boundaries of classical music, Eastern and Western traditions, and multimedia performance. He composed the scores for the films Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Hero, and The Banquet. For Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, he won the Academy Award for Best Original Score in 2000, and the Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack Album for a Motion Picture in 2001.
