Synopsis

Richie Bravo, a once-famous star, is chasing his fading fame in wintry Rimini. Between concerts for busloads of tourists and alcoholism, Richie's life is falling apart when his adult daughter enters his life. Richie's daughter demands money from a penniless Richie.

Program Note

In the misty desolation of Rimini, obscured by thick sea fog, Richie Bravo sustains himself by performing at clubs for tourists and engaging in casual encounters with women. However, he is confronted with neglected realities—his mother's funeral, his father's dementia and confinement in a nursing home, and the reappearance of his estranged daughter who believes he abandoned her. The film explores the pervasive themes of loneliness and alienation among its predominantly middle-aged characters. Even the refugees on the coast appear trapped in a state of psychological and physical displacement in this extraordinary piece. (Jeong Jihye)
