Synopsis

​ On a rainy day in a secluded cafe, Anna, a drinker, and Sang-yeon, a water drinker, go on a blind date. As time passes, they fall in love with each other's differences, and their relationship develops into a romantic one, but for some reason, Sang-yeon never touches Anna physically. Anna asks him, “Why don't you touch me?” and he replies, “I'm scared of sex.

Program Note

​ Water and Alcohol cleverly explores the dichotomy of human nature through two entirely different liquids. What starts as a simple exploration of the interplay between reason and emotion, embodied by a woman who enjoys drinking and a man who cannot, gradually expands into a broader examination of themes such as mental and physical love, yearning, and fear. Eventually, the film touches upon the creative arts of music and writing. As we experience these emotions alongside the characters, the movie seeps into our consciousness like water and leaves a lasting impact, much like alcohol. (Suan Seol)

  • Jung Chanhyeok
  • Jung Chanhyeok was born in Seoul in April 1998 and graduated from Sangsan High School in Jeonju. In 2018, he produced the short film To the Moon. He later worked as a first assistant director (FD) for the TVN drama Money Game and participated in the production team for independent films such as Black Boy and Delivery. In 2021, he directed brand fashion films for Slingstone and Kuman during the Seoul Fashion Week S/S season. He has also directed films such as On the Day of My First Day at Work Tomorrow, I Can't Sleep(2021).
