Synopsis

​ At 46 years old, she's been supporting her children and husband. Kyung-ah, a housewife who wants to be a woman instead of a mother! Ji-young, a Korean language instructor who has been naturally frail and sickly since she was a child! After meeting Paul, she becomes a master pole dancer! Hwa-young, an actress who was most afraid of her talent at the audition! Pole dancing is now her specialty! For them, pole dancing is no longer just a hobby, but a way of life! Follow the ups and downs of the average 40-year-old pole dancers as they face the challenges of the 2021 PICK Pole Dance Competition!

​ Some women opt for foot cream over hand cream to soothe their callused palms, reminiscent of the heels of their feet. These amateur pole dancers engage in a daily ritual of scrutinizing each other's form, adjusting direction and speed to perfect their challenging maneuvers. The documentary, Wonderpol, delves into the camaraderie and unwavering dedication of three women, who secretly endure injuries while persevering in their training, shielded from their families. Meanwhile, the camera quietly dismantles societal perceptions surrounding pole dancing, infusing familiar pop songs with a newfound freshness through unfamiliar movements. (Nam Sunwoo)

  • Jeong Yunseok directed the short film Zoo in 2020, which was screened at the Pyeongchang International Peace Film Festival, Seoul Guro International Kids Film Festival, and Jeonbuk Independent Film Festival. In 2021, he directed the short film Cinderella Mamy. Currently, he is running the independent film production and distribution company 315 Studio.
