Program Note
The title alone may suggest it is a literary work, but this movie possesses a musical essence. Two women and two men of different generations and tendencies, along with a peculiar being, make their free appearances. The manner in which they encounter one another, intervene, collide, separate, reunite, and harmonize resembles the intricate interplay of melodies in a musical composition. The movie exudes a sense of freedom yet operates and performs within a structured musical universe. Towards the end, regardless of whether it is free jazz, Korean traditional music, or Gutpan, viewers will encounter a sense of freedom and tranquility that arises from sheer exhaustion.
