Synopsis

​ Paris. New York. Millennials drenched in memories and nostalgia. And a magical 1920s song that makes two people fall in love instantly.

Program Note

​ In the 1920s, a jazz musician writes a magical song that causes two listeners to instantly fall in love when they listen to it simultaneously. However, at some point, the score goes missing. Theodore, who accidentally learns about the song's existence, embarks on a lengthy journey to find the score in order to win Amandine's heart, whom he fell in love with at first sight. Director Gérome Barry, who portrays the character of Theodore himself, immerses us in the realm of jazz music, respectfully evoking the ambiance of comedy musicals from the 1930s. Notably, all the music in the film was composed by the world-renowned jazz musician Giovanni Mirabassi. (Jin. Cho)

  • Gérome Barry studied film production at La Fémis cinema school in Paris. He directed four short films: Expedition Under My Bed (animated comedy, 55 festivals & 5 awards on 5 continents), The Big Musical Number (musical comedy, audience award at Beijing film festival), SÉRAPHIN and Suicide Express (jury award at Montpellier film festival). Meanwhile, he worked for ten years in film production and Swing Rendez-Vous is his first feature film.
