The Secrets and Stories Hidden in Notes and Chords

One of the many charms of music films lies here. The Jecheon International Music Film Festival has created an opportunity to meet musicians from the films once again, outside the screen. Musicians from three selected films will share the music and stories they could not fully express within the movie. In the Cine Concert, which begins before the impact of the movie's ending fades, the audience will enjoy the experience of "listening to a movie and seeing music."

    • 1. Days of Being Wild
    • Featuring: Director Shim Chan-yang, PD Kim Cheol-young, Hong Isak, Jang Ha-eun
    • Host: Shin Ji-hye (CBS Announcer)
    • “Song is about leaving traces,” as the movie line goes. Despite being a bit awkward and slow, Hong Isak, Jang Ha-eun, and their band ‘The Destroyer,’ which resembles their past, are walking steadily. This session will capture the songs, performances, and 'chit-chat' they couldn’t show in the film.
    • 2. Khaosan Tango

    • 'Last Tango,' ‘Woman’s Scent Tango,’ ‘Happy Together Tango,’ ‘Tango with Me’...
    • How have the tangos in Khaosan Tango, and other tangos in the movie, been varied to send shivers down the audience’s spine? The session will take a deeper look at the melancholic (哀而不悲) tango music and stories from the project band La Ventana, composed of Korea’s best tango genre musicians.
    • 3. Sambista
    • Featuring: Director Song Woo-jin, Bohemia, Bruna
    • Host: Jang Young-yeop (Editor of Cine21)
    • Valtinho Anastacio, the legendary Brazilian percussionist. From 2004 to 2019, he stayed in Korea and performed with musicians in Korea, telling the story and music of these Samba stars of Korea in 2020. The film explores their story and their dreams of yesterday, today, and still tomorrow.

    • A jazz group consisting of accordion player Jeong Tae-ho, pianist Park Young-ki, bassist Choi In-hwan, and drummer Jeong Seung-won. They started their activity in 2006 and were nominated for Best Jazz & Crossover Album at the 6th Korean Popular Music Awards and won Best Jazz & Crossover Album at the 8th Korean Popular Music Awards. They continue to perform actively after releasing their single album Interlude! in 2016.

    • A guitarist who won first prize at the 1st Brazil Music Contest, Kim Dong-seok plays the rare cavaquinho, while singer-songwriter Jeong Yeon-kyung has performed Brazilian music for years. They formed 'Bohemia' after performing Brazilian music to introduce it to Korea, offering music in a variety of Brazilian genres like samba, bossa nova, choro, samba reggae, and more.

    • Bruna brings a modern take on Brazilian music, blending the warmth and innocence of her unique sound. After the release of their first EP, Uma Carta, in 2018, Bruna’s team has worked to expand the boundaries of bossa nova while keeping the spirit of Brazil's music alive, blending tenderness, warmth, and the feeling of a gentle breeze.
