Synopsis

Maria Bethania - Music Is Perfume invites us to enter the universe of Maria Bethania, the famous Brazilian singer. Narrated by Bethania herself, the film not only gives us an insight into the intimate sphere of Maria Bethania’s creative process but also focuses on the history of Brazilian music. First a muse of the so-called counter culture and then the queen of romantic ballads, Maria Bethania chronicles her musical life experience in relation to Brazilian society’s development.

1990년부터 음악 다큐멘터리를 연출해왔다. 아르헨티나 피아니스트 마르타 아르헤리치를 다룬 <저녁의 대화>(2002)로 프릭스 이탈리아를 수상했다. 2005년 작품 <음악은 향기 ? 마리아 베타니아>는 제2회 제천국제음악영화제에서 상영되기도 했다. 그 밖에도 그레이스 범브리, 핑커스 주커만 등 음악가를 다룬 다큐멘터리를 다수 제작했다.
