Synopsis

Blending folk, rock, and hip-hop, the film is a portrait of various cultural practitioners whose work engages with the political upheaval and its social costs in contemporary Kashmir, the most heavily militarized zone in the world. Tracing the evolution of Kashmir’s traditional art into contemporary expressions of resistance, the film reveals a transformed cultural landscape that moves away from the romanticized image of Kashmir as a ‘paradise’.

  • Tushar Madhav is a documentary filmmaker with a deep interest in the geopolitics of contemporary and folk art. He has made several documentaries exploring these themes. He also conducts workshops in collaboration with organizations that support juvenile delinquents and marginalized girls, using audiovisual media to explore alternative storytelling methods.
