A reformed Tramp becomes a police constable and must confront a hulking thug who terrorizes a city street.

  • Born in London in 1889, Charles Spencer Chaplin began acting at the age of 17 when he joined Fred Karno’s vaudeville troupe, one of the most prominent in the music hall scene. During a U.S. tour in 1912, he was discovered by comedy mogul Mack Sennett and moved to America to further his career. In 1914, he debuted his signature “Tramp” character, complete with bowler hat, ill-fitting suit, and cane. Chaplin went on to create numerous cinematic masterpieces, including The Kid, City Lights, and Modern Times.
