Synopsis

A village became an island within an island due to sprawling development. While searching for his missing grandmother, Duk-soo recalls the day the whales came. And he finds himself becoming the whale he had longed for. Through fantasy woven with memory, unique songs, and animation, the film emotionally warns about the consequences of careless development.

  • Kim Hyo-jin is currently pursuing a master’s degree in musical theater creation at the Korea National University of Arts. The Man Who Became a Whale is her debut film, which was screened at the 2nd Chungmuro Musical Film Festival in 2017.
