Synopsis

The film tells the story of Iranian singer Shahin Najafi. He released a satirical rap song that triggered thousands to rally in a campaign for his assassination. Hardline clerics issued a death fatwa against him and placed a $100,000 bounty on his head. Shahin’s escape leads to an impossible romance when he falls in love with Leili Bazargan, the granddaughter of the first Prime Minister of Iran. Shahin and Leili are caught in the storm of Europe’s refugee crisis, rising Trumpism, and global anxiety about the increasingly violent clash between art and religion.
