Program Note

In 1945, the year of liberation, the KPK musical troupe gained popularity with the duo of Lee Nan-young and Kim Hae-song, until Kim was kidnapped to North Korea.

During the Korean War, Lee Nan-young went on to form Korea’s first vocal girl group, the *Kim Sisters*, with her daughters Sukja, Ae-ja, and her niece Min-ja—who inherited their parents' musical talent. Thanks to Lee's dedicated training, the *Kim Sisters* became popular at the American 8th Army base. They were later invited to perform in Las Vegas, making history as the first Asian group to perform there, leaving a strong impression on American audiences.

The film offers a glimpse into the lives of three shy girls who could fluently sing songs in English, despite not knowing the language, through Min-ja's remembrance.
