Program Note
In *Paradiso, an Amsterdam Stage Affair*, Jeroen Berkvens captures the essence of the iconic Amsterdam pop venue, Paradiso, like an exhilarating rollercoaster ride. The film highlights all aspects of the venue, but the musicians' experiences are at the forefront. It is also about what it feels like to perform on stage in front of an audience.
The staircase from the dressing room to the Paradiso stage may not be high, but with each step, the emotions build—balancing between fear and euphoria. And then comes the release: the concert itself. Featuring legendary artists such as Paul Weller, Henry Rollins, Jello Biafra, Johnny Rotten, Tom Barman, Martha Wainwright, Faithless, Patrick Watson, Daniel Johnston, Tim Knol, The Sonics, Public Enemy, and many more.
