Director Malik Bendjelloul transforms this journey into a moving and heartfelt documentary, driven by his own admiration for Rodriguez. It is almost unbelievable that such extraordinary music and talent remained hidden from the world for so long.

  • Born in Sweden in 1977, Malik Bendjelloul spent over a decade making short documentaries on renowned musicians such as Björk, Kraftwerk, Sting, Elton John, Madonna, and U2. His first feature-length documentary, *Searching for Sugar Man*, premiered to critical acclaim at major film festivals including Sundance and JIMFF, where it was selected as the opening film. Tragically, Bendjelloul passed away on May 13, 2014, leaving behind a timeless work that continues to inspire.
