Program Note

*Radio Days* tells the story of a group of people trying to produce a radio drama at Korea’s only radio station in the 1930s. PD Lloyd, who landed his job thanks to his father's influence, teams up with screenwriter Noh Bong-al to create a new radio show titled *Flames of Love*. Despite ongoing mishaps and internal conflicts, the drama captures the hearts of listeners with its sensational sound effects.

While each of the characters seems lost and uncertain about their future, they rediscover purpose and passion through the act of producing the show. Amid the film’s cheerful behind-the-scenes moments, the anger, sorrow, and emptiness of the colonial era are delicately yet powerfully portrayed.

    • Ha Ki-ho
    • Although *Radio Days* is his feature directorial debut, Ha Ki-ho had already established himself as a promising talent through his short films and screenwriting. While studying at the Korean Academy of Film Arts, he gained early recognition with his short film *Call* (1998), which explores phone sex, and *My Love, the Cross-Head Screwdriver* (2000), which portrays obsession with the human body. His early works showed originality and cinematic sensibility, marking him as a filmmaker to watch.
