Synopsis

For everyone who holds nostalgic memories of movies and theaters, *Cinema Paradiso* has become synonymous with a love for cinema—and, more deeply, a yearning for the past. Directed by Italian filmmaker Giuseppe Tornatore, the film won the Grand Prix du Jury at the 1989 Cannes Film Festival.

  • Born in Italy in 1956. He made his directorial debut with *The Minority of Sicily* (1985) and gained international acclaim with *Cinema Paradiso* (1988), which won the Grand Prix du Jury at the Cannes Film Festival. His other major works include *The Legend of 1900* (1998), *Malèna* (2000), and *The Best Offer* (2013).
