Synopsis

​ Erfan's father splits the money he saves from his part-time job so he can't buy the accordion he's always wanted. Erfan and his friend Moussa are bullied by a group led by Camille. Aisha helps Erfan get the accordion, and in the process, they grow closer.

Program Note

​ Erpan lends his father the money he has saved for a long time to buy an accordion. He becomes disappointed when he is unable to make the purchase. The director skillfully captures the essence of Uyghur life through the lens of a warm comedy set against the backdrop of cold winter scenery. The candid acting style and minimalistic settings enhance the sense of desolation, yet the human interactions among the characters surrounding Erpan bring an additional layer of charm and humor to the film. Moreover, the accordion music, providing irony and comfort, adds to the overall enjoyment of the movie as a delightful bonus. (Yoo Sunhee)

  • Emetjan Memet is currently a lecturer in the film production department of Shanghai Vancouver Film School. Blessed winter had won the Best Film award in both 86358 Jia Village Short Film Week and Hong Kong International Film Festival, and won the Special Recognition Award. Accordion had won the Best Film award in 86358 Jia Village Short Film Week & IM Film Festival and the jury award in the 2021 Hishorts film festival.
