Program Note

*The Legend of 1900* is another iconic film by Giuseppe Tornatore, the director of *Cinema Paradiso*. It tells the story of a legendary pianist—known only as “1900”—who was born aboard a vast ocean liner traveling between New York and Europe. Never officially registered at birth, he spends his entire life on the ship, never setting foot on land.

One of the film’s highlights is the epic piano duel between 1900 and the real-life jazz legend Jelly Roll Morton. Throughout the film, audiences are treated to the mesmerizing score of Ennio Morricone, who reunited with Tornatore after their collaboration on *Cinema Paradiso*. (HWANG Deok-ho)
